Usually, when we come across such promises we are instantly skeptical, especially since it seems that the products that come with quick and easy promises are usually the ones that disappoint the most. Nonetheless, we will still take a closer look at this product to determine what type of benefits it may provide regular users with.
However, before we further review this product, we feel it’s important to point out that the manufacturer of this product, Obesity Research Institute (ORI), has gotten in trouble with the FTC in the past for making misleading and false claims in regards to other dietary supplements that they have promoted.
Ingredients At A Glance
According to the company website, this product contains a single ingredient, Konjac Root, which is meant to provide dieters with a rich source of Glucomannan, a dietary fiber.
Unfortunately, this supplement was not chosen to participate in the $1,000 prize giveaway program on this website. The only reason that this is significant news is because the products that were selected to participate appear to contain the top weight loss ingredients now available on the market, potentially making them the best available products. Therefore, we believe Lipozene™’s lack of inclusion in this program may be indicative of its real abilities.
Ingredients in Focus
Glucomannan is a water-soluble dietary fiber. As shown above, it is derived from Konjac Root, and at times, it goes by the same name. Manufacturers claim that since Glucomannan is not included in many foods, supplementation is necessary to gain its purported fat burning benefits.
This ingredient is said to impede or stop the ingestion and absorption of fats in the body, and thus bring down daily-calorie counts, but there is little evidence to support these claims. However, since it is a source of fiber, it may create feelings of “fullness” after being ingested, but consumers who desire a strong and proven appetite suppressant may want to look elsewhere.
In addition, we want to note that Glucomannan is also said to have laxative-like effects. Dieticians warn against the abuse of laxatives and note that they can be very unhealthy. Laxatives are not a lasting weight loss method and should not be used as one.

We were able to find a series of reviews for this supplement on a few independent websites. For the most part, these reviews were primarily negative in regards to this supplement living up to its purported benefits. In addition, we also came across complaints about the company’s customer service practices. It appears that many consumers have had trouble with this company charging their accounts too much money or making additional, unauthorized charges to their accounts. Furthermore, consumers report that it is quite hard to receive a refund from ORI, and that it’s even harder to get in contact with a company representative.
As mentioned, this company did get in trouble with the FTC, which charged them for making false and unsubstantiated claims for two of their other supplements, both of which are also based on Glucomannan. In the end, ORI was forced to pay $1.5 million in customer reparation.

However, based on the formula and the negative consumer reviews, we do doubt that this product can live up to the company’s high claims. We do suggest that consumers who are interested in finding an effective appetite suppressant look into a formula that contains Hoodia Gordonii, which is an African herb proven to reduce hunger. Supplements containing Hoodia Gordonii combined with metabolism boosters may be among some of the best supplements currently on the market.
